It’s the beginning of October in the UK, so you’d be forgiven for thinking that I’ve bamboozled you and uploaded photos from midsummer, well it’s certainly not the case. The amazing weather we had this year continued well into October and this day offered us pretty spectacular warmth and glorious sunshine throughout. I arrived in London at 11 am and walked the impressive streets of Maida Vale before arriving outside Arwen and John’s home on a quaint little mews, set behind the main street. I’m a little early for them so first of all wander around the corner to have a Mint Tea which I naturally drink sitting outside to enjoy the atmosphere in the comforting warmth. Then I pop back to the mews and observed where I think are the best positions and locations to shoot.

Arwen and John have a beautiful rescue spaniel called Willow and they wanted to include her in their day by having some photos taken with her in the morning before the ceremony. I’m very much a dog person and was really looking forward to meeting Willow; though a timid girl,  we hit it off straight away, I think it helped that I was prepared with dog treats in my pockets. She was a natural in front of the camera and I was really happy with the shots I got.

Arwen and John kindly allowed me to join them in the car taking them to the venue and when we arrived I ran ahead to catch them walking along path and up the steps. It was a real pleasure to be a Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Photographer, I’d not worked there before and Arwen and John made me feel so welcome and relaxed. They are such a lovely attractive couple, full of smiles and great fun. Inside I met a number of guests and drank in the wonderful architecture of the building. The windows to the balcony overlooking the street was open and the breeze softly caressed the thin voil curtains.

The ceremony was touching and every face was beaming with a smile, following the signing of the register and when the newly married couple returned to the room, I managed to catch John’s dad, in high emotion with tears in his eyes, embrace John. After the ceremony we shot a few family photos on the steps and then proceeded to walk to the Harcourt around the corner in the gloriously warm sunshine, which at this time of year cast heavy contrasting shadows and I think really add to the image.

I had a fantastic time and really feel honoured that Arwen and John wanted me to document their day for them.
