Hi, my name is Martyn, based on the Surrey & Sussex border working as a professional Surrey Wedding Photographer, thank you for taking a moment to read a bit about me, the person who might be documenting one of the most momentous days of your lives. Wow, what a responsibility that is on my shoulders and one I take very seriously. Wedding Photography is a real passion of mine.
I’m a husband to a wonderful wife (pictured here) and a father (OK, owner) of Pixel, the mostly Jack Russel and slightly Corgi bundle of fur and craziness, who I’d also class as one of my best mates. We live in Alfold, a small village on the Surrey Sussex border, a stone’s throw from the Village of Dunsfold where I grew up and lived before moving to Aberystwyth on the west coast of Wales to study Theatre at University. In between I have lived in London and from 2011 to 2018 Manchester, which I still visit frequently for my main 9-5 job.
I’d always enjoyed Photography as a hobby but it was my Wife (the strong, supportive, motivating, business minded woman behind the scenes) who gave me the courage and belief in myself that I needed to head into the world of professional photography. I spent two years of evening classes at Trafford College studying photography under A.J Wilkinson which helped improve my skills, understanding and appreciation for composition and style.
I hope to make a success of wedding photography now that we’re settled here on the Surrey Sussex border. I’d also like to broaden my horizons by branching out into other kinds of photographic work. I have already shot some local events, most notably at the Firebird brewery in Rudgwick, a place that you might often find me making sure the beer is of fine quality 😀
I look forward to hearing from you.
-My Personal Work-
Photography has always been a great passion of mine. At a very young age I would watch my dad develop his own film and use an enlarger to print the images. Later I would use my step-dad’s Pentax K1000 to hone my analogue skills. I did work experience with a pro-photographer back at school and then took a Photography A-Level course at college.
For a long time photography was just a hobby but then I started taking photos at weddings of friends and family, then I was shooting other events at parties and Christenings. Then I met my wife and she gave me the push I needed to give Wedding Photography a go in a professional manner and the rest, as they say is history. I’m proud to call myself a professional Surrey and Sussex Wedding Photographer
